WELL it’s been very hectic the last few weeks but I am back settled in the UK for my off-season now so I am enjoying taking the kids to school and getting back into the UK life scene.
A lot has happened in the last few weeks with regards to Toronto and whether I will be playing there next year but I will fill you in as soon as I know for certain.
Back here we have seen Chelsea storming ahead in the title race with Liverpool faltering badly. How long will Rafa get before he runs out of time? For me his job is safe as he has done wonders when you know of the money turnover when compared to Manchester United. Mind you when they bow out of the Champions League this week then it will be a big test for the owners.
Man Utd and Arsenal are tucked away nicely but Sunderland and Burnley are big surprises for me. The Mackems have a huge following and I'm buzzing for them, and Burnley need to amass as many points as possible before Christmas otherwise maybe face a season like Hull had last year.
Mick McCarthy has insisted Wolves are in a dogfight scrap already. Mick is the most honest person I’ve met and a few others would be so much better off if they had his outlook.
I have got to mention the Spurs v Wigan match which ended 9-1. Defoe with five goals, and Harry still not happy with the Wigan goal. This was all without Robbie Keane too. They have set themselves some standards now as they look forward. It was a fantastic gesture too from Mario Melchiot and the Wigan boys to reimburse the fans that travelled to the game. Ok, you don't mean to lose but sometimes everything goes wrong and it certainly did for them - but dipping in their pockets is proof that footballers do have hearts.
Back to the MLS, and the expansion draft is set to take place.
All teams are allowed to protect 10 players and then the new team coming into the league can pick a player from each unprotected list, unless they are generation Adidas with which the league pays their salary and they cannot be picked up.
Players are protected or unprotected for varying reasons and I am on the unprotected list along with my good friend Amado Guevara. We are open to be picked up by Philadelphia Union as they are the new franchise. It will be an exciting few weeks.
The MLS Cup Final was played between Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy and Salt Lake came out winners after penalties. A hard pill to swallow for David Beckham and co but his insistence that he will be staying in the league for good is a big boost all round.
Finally I would like to wish Stevie McPhail a speedy recovery after his operation last week.
