CAROLINE Jones bagged four goals as Welshpool ran riot at Rhyl in the first division of the North Wales Ladies’ League.


Sarah Thomas gave Pool an early lead, only for Rhyl to post an immediate riposte.
However Jones restored the lead before half-time and proceeded to complete her treble.


Georgia Buckley threatened before Kelly Evans joined the spree and Jones completed a comfortable 6-1 victory for Pool.


Newtown Ladies were also comfortable winners with Heidi Rowbottom completing a fine hat-trick.


Further goals from Sian Griffiths, Clare Bonsall and Sarah Forest completed the romp.


Llanfair Caereinion had to wait until the last 10 minutes to secure victory over Dysynni, with a fine individual goal from Angharad Davies ensuring a slender 1-0 win.


Davies burst from the halfway line before executing a cute reverse flick over the advancing goalkeeper.


Elsewhere Radnor overcame a disjointed start to beat Gowerton 6-2 in the first division of South Wales Ladies’ League.


Goals from Gwen Samuel, Hayley Price and Lindsay Jones laid the foundations with Phillipa Williams, Helen Williams and a second for player of the match Price sealing an emphatic victory.


Kington went down by a solitary goal at Llantrisant with Jan Thomas sealing a 1-0 win in the second division.


Meanwhile Montgomery’s stubborn resistance was broken late on in the Shropshire League against Shrewsbury IIs, with two late goals sealing a a 2-0 win while Presteigne were awarded the points after Market Drayton conceded.


Elsewhere crisis club Newtown Men set aside their problems to edge a seven goal thriller at home to Bromsgrove in the first division of the Bodykraft West Midlands Men’s League.


Newtown are beset by crippling selection problems following a player drain but ensured themselves a 4-3 victory over the Midlanders courtesy of goals from Neil Godsell, Richard Jones, Dave Hamer and Andy Denham, to cancel out replies from Bevan Edwards who fired a brace and Callum Edwards.


Meanwhile the Badgers League is in full swing with Knighton beating Brecon 1-0 in the South Powys League courtesy of a Rachel Venables goal.
Meanwhile Sophie Rees and Lucy Thompson starred with four goals each in Llanidloes’ 8-2 triumph over Welshpool in the northern section.
