Was this the best week in Toronto FC's history?... by Carl Robinson

WELL it's probably been one of the best weeks in Toronto FC history as we managed to pull off the great escape last Thursday.

We were playing away in Montreal and needed to win by four goals to advance to the next round of the Canada Cup.

We knew it was possible but the fact that we had only managed to score four times once in our history made it all the more difficult.

We had prepared well, but everyone was writing us off saying it could not be done. I was happy that everyone was saying it was not possible because football is all about opinions and proving people wrong. In fact life is all about that.

We started in a very attacking formation but after 20 minutes we went behind to a penalty.

We now had an even bigger task. We changed our formation again and this proved vital. We equalised quickly then went 2-1 up and suddenly made the game interesting.

Half-time came and I just fancied that we could do it although we now needed to score five. We quickly scored two more and set up an exciting finish. The boys were buzzing, and the 300 Toronto fans that traveled were in full voice.

This is where they became our 12th man.

We then scored our fifth with five minutes left, and as it stood we were through. Finally, with two minutes left, we rounded off an excellent victory with a sixth goal to send our fans home happy.

Dwayne de Rosario scored three goals and Amado Guevara two goals, while Chad Barrett got the winner. It was crazy and the celebrations went on well through the night.

This victory was not only for us but for our crazy fans who deserve some success. Let's enjoy this but not rest on our laurels as our main aim this year is to reach the play offs in Major League Soccer. Let's try and reach our target then we'll all celebrate..

We then traveled back to face New York again at home.

This was a massive game for us as it would get us right back in the hunt at the top of the league. We started the game well and scored when Pablo Vitti scored his first for the club.

Dwayne de Rosario then scored as we ran out comfortable 2-0 winners. I wouldn't say we played great but we were professional in our job and now are one point behind the leaders in our conference.

We are set up nicely but the hard work is just beginning.

We are set to play a run of away games and it's important that we pick up points on the road.
