Welshpool’s Inner Wheel group recently welcomed the chairman of the district to present a volunteer with an award for decades of service.
At their latest meeting, held in the Royal Oak Hotel in Welshpool, the Inner Wheel District 18 chairman, Murial McGrath was welcomed to the meeting to present an award to one of their longest serving volunteers.
Group member Olive Williams was presented with a certificate to mark 50 years of service, both with the Inner Wheel and for other charity work outside of the organisation.

Inner Wheel, first founded in 1924, is one of the largest women's voluntary service organisations in the world, made up of 29 districts across the UK and Ireland.
Commenting on her 50 years of service and the certificate presentation at the meeting, Mrs Williams said: “I’ve been volunteering for charities for a long time so I like to think the work is the main focus, but it is lovely to be recognised in this way.
“After 50 years of charity work, I try to take it in my stride, but it was definitely a lovely evening.”
