Powys Children’s Services and a team leader at Credu are among the finalists for a prestigious care award.

Among the 18 projects listed as finalists for the Accolades awards, an organisation that recognise, celebrate and share notable work in social care and childcare, are Powys Children’s Services and Becky Evans, Powys Team Leader at Credu.

Ms Evans was nominated for her work making sure unpaid carers’ voices are at the centre of Credu’s work in Powys.

Meanwhile, Powys Children’s Services were also included as finalists in recognition of work supporting staff well-being in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The finalists were chosen by a panel of judges made up of Social Care Wales Board members, representatives from partner organisations and people with experience of using care and support, from more than 90 projects and care workers from across Wales.

Sue Evans, Social Care Wales’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to have such a strong group of finalists that really showcase the excellent care work that’s happening all over Wales. Once again, we’ve received an exceptionally high standard of entries and the judges have had a difficult time whittling the entries down to just 18 finalists.

OTHER NEWS:

“It’s no secret that the social care and early years and childcare sectors are experiencing serious difficulties due to tighter budgets, staffing issues and the cost-of-living crisis. But despite these challenges, our care workers are continuing to go above and beyond to provide excellent care and support for the people of Wales.

“This is why it’s vital we take this time to say thank you to our care workers and to recognise and celebrate the fantastic care and support being provided every day in communities across Wales.

“Congratulations to the 18 finalists. I look forward to welcoming you all to the awards ceremony next month, and to recognising, celebrating and sharing your wonderful efforts and achievements.”

The winners will be announced at the 2024 Accolades awards ceremony at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel on Thursday, 25 April.
