WELCOME to a trip down memory lane as we celebrate all things Powys of the past.
Today we are heading back to 1998 to offer some gems from the archive for all to enjoy.

1998 was the year of flannel shirts and plaid tops. Many at the time were into the style of rock music which would be considered grunge.

Athletic-inspired clothing, such as tracksuits and sneakers, became popular both as casualwear and as a statement of fashion.
The Government of Wales Act 1998, that established a devolved Welsh Assembly, received its Royal Assent and Ron Davies was elected in preference to Rhodri Morgan as Labour’s candidate for First Secretary of the Assembly.
Mr Davies lasted a month before resigning as Secretary of State for Wales after being mugged in an incident on Clapham Common, following what he described as an “error of judgment”.
It was also the year of the Great Boxing Day Storm when severe gale-force winds hit Ireland, southern Scotland and northern England. Roads, railways and electricity were all disrupted.
Meanwhile France defeated Brazil 3-0 to win the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Google Inc was founded by Stanford University Ph.
