A mountain biker in Powys was forced to call a mountain rescue team after falling into and becoming trapped in a ravine.
The cyclist became trapped in a ravine near Llangynog on Saturday (March 16) and was forced to call Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team for assistance - but eventually managed to escape by himself.
The rescue team received the call at approximately 1.45pm, as they were preparing to deploy to another incident in Abergynolwyn, leaving their resources tied up.
The team’s neighbours at North East Wales Search & Rescue agreed to attend the incident instead.

Team volunteer Graham O'Hanlon, who helped co-ordinate the rescue, said: "It is unusual for us as a team to have two call-outs overlapping, but it does happen from time to time.
"Fortunately, we are able to call on our neighbouring Teams to back-fill the gap when such instances occur; it is a very robust system."
As the team from at North East Wales Search & Rescue were deployed, they received a message from the police before arriving on scene that the Mountain Biker had “self-rescued” from the ravine and had made his way to the safety of his vehicle.
The rescue team ultimately stood down and returned to their base near Mold.
