As Machynlleth Carnival is preparing for a packed schedule this summer organisers are looking for interest in some old favourites.

As organisers of the 2024 Machynlleth carnival finalise their schedule this summer, planning to hold a number of fundraising events towards the summer event, they are looking at the interest in one of their most requested events.

In addition to favourites such as carnival football and the colour run, Machynlleth carnival have received many requests to revive the pram race, which was absent in 2023.

Writing on social media, organisers said: “We would love to put the pram race on again this year, however we will be looking at introducing a booking system to ensure that we have enough participants for the event to run.

“So much work goes in behind the scenes for every one of these events, from risk assessments, meetings, planning and organising the finer details, all on volunteer’s time, we have to consider the engagement of each one of these events.

“Regrettably, due to a low level of participation across both children and adult entries in 2022, we made the decision not to run the event in 2023.”

The carnival are encouraging people to get in touch via their social media pages to express an interest in the race, or any other event in the run up to the 2024 carnival.
