Montgomery Young Farmers were welcomed as they helped launch an impact report in the Senedd.

Montgomery YFC were welcomed by Montgomeryshire MS Russell Geroge as part of a wider Wales YFC contingent launching their report in the Senedd about the benefits of the organisation.

Montgomery Young Farmers club were represented by Alun, Ffion and Katie who met up with Montgomeryshire MS, Russell George at the Senedd launch.

Montgomery Young Farmers Clubs provides opportunities for members to develop new skills, receive valuable training, travel the world, become an integral part of the community and have the opportunity to make friends for life.

The club currently has over 600 members through the 18 clubs operating across the County which makes it one of the biggest Young Farmers Clubs in Wales.

Commenting after meeting Montgomery YFC in the Senedd, Mr George said: “It was fantastic to meet Alun, Ffion and Katie from Montgomery YFC in the Senedd.

“We talked about the impact report and just how crucial their time at YFC has been and what it can do for young people across rural communities. It’s clear from reading the impact report that the YFC clearly provides so many benefits such as learning new skills, developing a network and championing the next generation of farmers.

“Young people really are the backbone of the rural community and I hope the Montgomery YFC continues to grow and produce great talents.”

The YFC is one of the largest youth movements in Wales, supporting young people between the ages of 10 and 28 to develop a host of skills, tackle rural isolation and raise money for charities, amongst a host of other benefits. 

The report was delivered to “help showcase some of the work the YFC does to help support young people in rural communities across Wales”.

According to a survey of six thousand club members across Wales, 87 per cent said that the experiences from gained from their time at a YFC had helped them find jobs.
