THE Powys football community is mourning the loss of the great Peter Canning.

The former Carno, Llanidloes Town and Caersws Reserves manager passed away just before Christmas. 

A club spokesman said: “Everyone at the club is sorry to hear about the passing of Pete Canning. 

“Pete had managed Carno and remained a friend of the club always, the Canning family has always had a strong link to the club and our thoughts are with them all.”

A Caersws Football Club spokesman said: “ It is with heavy hearts that we, the club, bid farewell to a respected figure and a dear friend, Peter Canning.

“Peter’s dedication and passion for the game were evident in every aspect of his involvement with the club.

“His presence on the field and in the clubhouse brought a positive energy that resonated with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
