The Lord Lieutenant of Powys will join the Remembrance Sunday parade in Llanidloes as residents prepare to gather and pay tribute to those who died for their country.

On Sunday, November 12, the parade will start in High Street at 9.45am before collecting the Mayor Jamie Jones, Deputy Mayor John Hughes, town councillors and Lord Lieutenant of Powys Tia Jones from outside the Town Hall at 9.50am.

A remembrance service at St Idloes Church will then begin at 10am before the parade leaves the church at 10.45am towards the war memorial in Great Oak Street in time for the two-minute silence at 11am.

Communities in the Llanidloes will also commemorate next weekend the contribution of military and civilian servicemen and women involved in the two world wars and later conflicts.

Remembrance Sunday services will be held at 10am at Carno church, Llandinam Presbyterian Church, Llanwnog Methodist Church, Trefeglwys Chapel followed after at the villages' war memorials. Llangurig Chapel will mark Remembrance Sunday with a service at 2.30pm with a commemoration at the war memorial.

Poppies are on sale from a number of collection boxes in Llanidloes, Llangurig and Trefeglwys following the launch of the area's Poppy Appeal last month.

Selling poppies has been an emblem for the RBL for more than 100 years. The money raised from each poppy sold goes directly towards helping all the veterans, servicemen and women, and their families.
