PREMIERE Dire Straits tribute act DS:UK are playing a show in Powys this weekend.

Described as the UK’s finest tribute show to Dire Straits, DS:UK are back in Llandrindod Wells on Saturday, October 14.

The gig starts at 7.30pm at the Albert Hall, with tickets £18.

Mark Knopfler finally let the time bell ring on Dire Straits in 1995, following a triumphant two-year tour to promote the band’s final album ‘On Every Street’, which also resulted in the live album ‘On The Night’.

Just like every other musician over 2020 and 2021, the 6 members of the independently-run DS:UK show were drastically affected by the Covid-19 pandemic but they weathered the storm and were able to continue their highly successful ‘Brothers in 85’ tour through 2020 and 2021.

“Brothers in ’85 was a fantastic tour and was made so much sweeter because we weren’t allowed to perform for 18 months,” remembers the band’s leader Dave Phillips.

County Times:

“Our followers and audiences gave us so much love and energy at our shows when we were all finally able to get back to what we love most, it was humbling.”

DS:UK’s 2023 ‘ON anoTHEr NIGHT’ tour – a play on the Dire Straits album – pays tribute to Knopfler’s final tour with a magnificent two-hour set list that spans the band’s incredible career.

“We love playing those classic songs; Romeo and Juliet, Sultans of Swing, etc, but we’re really looking forward to performing some of Dire Straits’ more interesting compositions from On Every Street… but you’ll need to come and see the shows to discover which ones,” added Dave.
