A GROUP of 30 German youngsters from Llandrindod Wells’ twin town of Bad Rappenau have spent a five-day visit to spa town.

The group travelled by coach from Germany and were able to offer lifts to two members from the Contrexeville (France) Twinning Association, enabling them to also join the visit. During their stay in Powys the group spent time in the Elan Valley and explored the dams with a ranger, they also spent a day in Aberystwyth.

A highlight of the trip was a day of activities at Llandrindod Lake where the youngsters built two rafts which they successfully sailed on the lake. They also enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding and riding in the dragon pedal boats.

They completed their activities at the Princes Avenue Leisure Park, provided by Llandrindod Wells Town Council, where they played table tennis, mini golf and other games together. The mayor of Llandrindod, Marcia Morgan, met the group at the leisure park and was pleased that they were enjoying their visit to Llandrindod.

Sybille Hummel, chair of the Bad Rappenau Twinning Association, thanked everyone in Llandrindod for making their visit so enjoyable. She extended an invitation for a youth group from Llandrindod to visit Bad Rappenau in the summer of 2024.

Llandrindod Wells and Area Twinning Association wants to make twinning accessible to all sectors of the community and particularly youth groups wishing to make an exchange visit in 2024. Group leaders should contact the association through its website www.llandrindodtwinning.wordpress.com or phone the secretary on 01597 822111.
