NEW pictures have revealed the shockingly low levels on a reservoir near Llanidloes as the driest summer for 170 years takes its toll.
Clywedog Reservoir was photographed by Kate Evans of the Environment Agency, with the pictures shared by another of the English agency via Twitter.
Hydrometry & Telemetry officer for Midlands Environment Agency Rob Davies Tweeted: “Despite welcome rain, water levels remain very low and really highlights why we all need to use water wisely.”
In September, the Environmental Agency warned that significant action was needed to manage water levels following a particularly dry summer.
The recent measurements of Clywedog Reservoir were carried out by the Midlands Environmental Agency as the reservoir regulates the flow of water in the River Severn and supplies 50 million litres of drinking water to the West Midlands.
Readings from September 26 revealed that water levels had fallen by 11.5 percent in less than a month.
