The party is over in Llanidloes after the community turned out in force for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the extended Bank Holiday weekend.

Rain and wind didn’t put a dampener on the occasion which saw residents gather together to celebrate The Queen's 70 years on the throne.

Jane Owen, organiser, said: "The biggest thank you is reserved for the community and of Llanidloes: for turning out in full measure when the sun shone and all those who dressed up ready to brave the wind and rain; for baking cakes and dishes for the table; for dancing on the street to well past 7pm; for just being there and smiling and chatting. Thank goodness for the weather: for finally shedding the rain midday and shining through for a warmer afternoon.

"We were a very small committee who worked hard to make this happen. Thank you to Angela Swindell and Graham Davies. Thank you for the support of all of our families whilst we fully immersed ourselves in organising this event."
