NEWTOWN Wanderers held their annual meeting and awards night last week.

Neil Lloyd-Jones went home with the players’ player award while Alex Wilson was named manager’s player of the year and Leon Williams the chairman’s pick.

The young player of the season was Aron Gilbert James with Liam Whittington the most improved and Dave Ash the golden boot winner.

Meanwhile the club also elected new officials for next season.

Dave Aspinall was elected president with Dafydd Evans taking over as chairman and Danny Price as secretary while Lee Stephens was elected treasurer with Ian Hogg thanked for his years of service in the role.

Stephens said: “There was a great turn out from players all interested in how the club was going to move forward.

“One of the big discussions was about finance as the club were on the brink during last season however the club is in a much stronger position now due to some hard work behind the scenes and also some great sponsorship obtained by players.

“The club is financially in a better place than the start of last season, however it was agreed that some more fund raising activities do need to take place.”

The Black and Ambers will host a meeting later in the summer to confirm the management and coaching team for next season.
