North Wales Div Two
Llanidloes 27
Denbigh 23
LLANIDLOES ended their league campaign with their best performance of the season in a 27-23 victory at home to Denbigh.
Adam Price played a key role with his kicks stretching the Denbigh defence while the hosts defence ensured the North Wales side struggled throughout.
Dan O’Sullivan’s penalty gave Denbigh the lead but Llanidloes stormed back to lead.
First Rob Jones danced his way through three tackles to cross for a try before wing Richard Pryce gathered a Price kick to celebrate a try in the corner.
Both were converted by Price who also kicked a penalty before O’Sullivan reduced the arrears with a kick at the other end.
Denbigh were back in the game just before half-time when wing Aiden Jones darted over for a try, converted by O’Sullivan whose penalty just after the break further reduced the deficit.
Llanidloes restored their cushion with Pryce released by skipper Paul Jehu to cross for his second try of the day, converted by Price.
Denbigh set up a tense finale when flanker Tom Eden’s try reduced the arrears to just a point with three minutes remaining.
Llanidloes settled the outcome through the boot of Price to ensure a winning end to the season ahead while setting themselves up for the Mid Wales Cup final later this month.
