THE future of Welshpool Town Football Club was showcased ahead of the club’s final Spar Mid Wales League One game on the season on Saturday.
Welshpool Villa took on inter-club rivals Welshpool Wanderers in the final of the Mid and North Powys Junior Football League under 16s Cup with Villa running out 6-1 winners.
Wanderers co-manager Dean Gill said: “We lost to a very good side who were worthy winners of not just the cup but also the league.
“The Wanderers showed great character as a side playing a year below their age level and their time will come .
“Congratulations to Villa and we wish them all the best in moving forward with Welshpool under 19s and hopefully the senior set-up in coming years.
“We are privileged to have such good talent at all ages in Welshpool and it can only benefit the club for years to come.”
Chairman Russell Cadwallader echoed Gill’s comments, saying: “We have a lot of positives to take from this season to build on in the future.
“Full credit to our first team managers Chris Roberts and Neil Pryce for their efforts since taking the job in difficult circumstances and to all the junior coaches who are contributing the future of this great club.”
