Frustrating weekend for Welshpool’s Brooks

WELSHPOOL road racer Alun Brooks endured a tumultuous weekend in the NG road race meeting at Oulton Park.

Brooks’ day began with mechanical problems with the discovery of a burnt out spark plug which meant a 90 minute return trip to purchase replacements

However upon preparation for action, Brooks would discover issues with his generator.

Brooks would find aid in fellow competitor James Evans from Yockleton whose kind assistance ensured the Welshpool rider finally ready for race action.

It was not just Brooks’ bike suffering issues as the starting lights would also fail to work and leave riders to navigate an extra warm-up lap which led to collisions.

Brooks climbed from 13th to sixth but ended race one 10th from where he started race two.

Brooks endured a poor start and lacked power on the straights as he ended up in 12th spot.

Meanwhile Mid Wales and border riders Jon Wright finished seventh in race two with Evans crashing out after five laps.
