THE thrilling Spar Mid Wales League Two promotion race took another twist in a fateful weekend.

Borth United’s promotion hopes ended following a 1-0 defeat at home to Dyffryn Banw as a solitary Alwyn Jones goal proved the difference.

Churchstoke capitalised with a 3-0 win at home to Four Crosses leaving the Marketmen to steal in for second spot and a place in the first division next season.

Despite Josh McGlynn seeing his penalty saved in the first-half the hosts were not to be denied and their dominance was rewarded with a comfortable 3-0 victory courtesy of goals from Jamie Bettan, Andrew Green and Neil Yapp.

Meanwhile Penybont celebrated a shock win as Jake Bufton struck late in a 3-2 victory at home to Dolgellau Athletic.

Emrys Thomas and Jack Murphy netted for the Polecats with Dion Jones and Joe Ephraim on target for Dolgellau before Bufton earned the hosts a rare victory.
