THE New Saints look set to rotate their squad for their remaining Dafabet Welsh Premier campaign, starting at Cardiff Metropolitan on Saturday (2.30).

With the long expected sixth consecutive crown secured a fortnight ago the Saints last challenge of the season is retaining the JD Welsh Cup, with a semi-final against Gap Connahs Quay looming large.

In the meantime the Saints embark on the remainder of the league campaign with assistant manager Scott Ruscoe expecting wholesale squad changes.

“Our squad has a lot of strength in depth and everyone is champing at the bit, so hopefully over the next few weeks people will get their chance,” said Ruscoe.

“We want to finish the season as strongly as possible while we giving lads as much playing time as we can leading up to the Welsh Cup semi-final, which is a big game.

“We’ve got players in all positions and we can change formations and everyone will be used from now until the end of the season.”

However Ruscoe insisted the Saints would also look to extend their lead at the top of table, currently standing at 23 points in the most one sided title race inn decades.

“After we won the league last week, it might have had the effect of ‘we’ll just turn up’, but they were very good against Bala. It was a professional performance and a good win in the end.

“Cardiff are very organised with good, keen and fit players but I do not see us having any problems as long as we perform as we did against Bala.”
