BERRIEW Reserves are in the Emrys Morgan Cup Final.

The Rhiewsiders overcame runaway Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League leaders Bont 2-0 in Newtown on Wednesday with goals from Kie Evans and Jack Lewis proving decisive.

Berriew manager Jonny Roberts said: "We turned up expecting a massive game, Bont were unbeaten in their whole season prior to last night, so we knew they'd be tough opposition.

"Sections of their media around them wrote us off prior to the match, stating we'd been fortunate all the way through our cup run so far, and that this would be a walk in the park for Bont.

"That was all the team talk I needed and the lads were well pumped for the match.

Evans headed Berriew into the lead inside the opening quarter with the Rhiewsiders dominating the remainder of the half.

Bont enjoyed their spell of the game after the break but soon Berriew's passing game came to the fore with Jack Lewis settling the tie with a sensational 25 yard lobbed goal.

"It was a great game of football and we loved the fact that they didn't give us a chance but taught them a lesson," added Roberts.

Waterloo Rovers now bid to set-up an all Montgomeryshire League final by beating Llandysul of the Ceredigion League in Llanidloes next week.
