Llandrindod leave it late at Maesydre

BEN Jones headed Llandrindod Wells to a last gasp 2-1 victory at Welshpool Town in Spar Mid Wales League One.

The sides produced an even contest with few clear cut chances until the Spamen broke the deadlock on the hour with Jonny Williams converting Darren Murphy’s incisive pass.

Pool hit back with 10 minutes remaining with Will Pritchard steering home Ed Baker’s cross but Llandrindod were not to be denied and with seconds remaining Jones headed home Kieran McCarley’s corner to seize the points.

Late drama at Cae Glas also saw Bow Street snatch maximum points from a 3-2 victory at Machynlleth.

Llion Jenkins struck against his former club before Tom Williams doubled Street’s tally with Machynlleth stirred into life with replies from Max Jones and Sion Williams.

However Street were not to be denied as Neil Jones headed a last gasp winner to leave the Maglonians shattered.

Hay St Marys proved a cut above Tywyn Bryncrug with goals from Steve Morgan, Adie Lawford, Will Goodwun and Callum Maddy ensuring a 4-1 win with Tywyn netting a late consolation through Sion Ellis.

Meanwhile Llanidloes Town leapfrogged Knighton Town to eighth following a 2-0 mid table clash.

George Clarke headed home Matthew Savage’s corner to give Llanidloes a 25th minute lead at Bryn-Y-Castell with Rhys Evans, Joe Evans and Gareth Owen spurning further chances.

Llanidloes settled the contest five minutes from time with Rhys Evans punishing a poor back pass to slot home and ensure his side maintained their impressive run.
