BERRIEW’S first division title bid looks all but over after slipping to a 2-0 defeat at Hay St Marys in the only game to survive the weekend weather.

Defeat left the Rhiewsiders four points adrift of leaders Rhayader Town having played one more game as the long campaign enters its final weeks.

Jack Biggs and Brendan Hackett spurned early openings for the Saints before the deadlock was broken from the penalty spot by the latter following a foul on Rob Snedden after 28 minutes.

Berriew dominated the second-half with top scorer Richard Davies denied by the woodwork before Hackett completed his brace with a fine individual effort with 20 minutes remaining.
