Spar Mid Wales
BORTH United hit back to overcome Presteigne 5-1 to get their Spar Mid Wales League Two promotion bid back on track.
The match was played at Aberystwyth Town’s Park Avenue ground due to the heavy weekend rain and saw the visitors open a surprise lead through Matthew Jones.
However the dismissal of Owen Williams after 25 minutes saw the match swing in Borth’s favour with Ryan Davies and Liam Lewis netting a pair of braces while James Davies completed the scoring.
Dolgellau Athletic maintained their own challenge with a 3-2 win at Llansantffraid Village.
David Edwards struck twice for the visiting Wasps with Joe Ephraim’s goal ensuring the spoils with the Saints always in contention through Jack Davies and Tom Gayle goals.
Josh Price proved the difference with both goals as Builth Wells continued their revival in a 2-2 win at home to Abermule who replied through Dave Anthony.
Newbridge proved too strong for Aberystwyth University with Aeron Powell’s brace and goals from Ollie Woods and Alfie Stonefield earning a 4-1 victory with Tom Spicer netting a consolation.
Elsewhere Churchstoke hit back to complete a 3-1 win at Four Crosses despite missing two penalties.
Josh Biggs gave Crosses a shock lead before Joe Haycock levelled for the Marketmen who saw Max McLoughlin’s penalty saved on the stroke of half-time.
Churchstoke spurned a second spot-kick after the break with Trevor Dunham firing wide before the visitors finally led as McLaughlin atoned for his earlier miss.
Churchstoke won a third and final penalty late on with Josh McGlynn succeeding where his team-mates had failed with his conversion settling the outcome.
