Bro Ffestiniog 20
COBRA slipped back into the first division relegation zone after Bro Ffestiniog prevailed.
The sides were matched until the break but the hosts upped the ante with two second-half tries and despite the Mid Wales side’s best efforts could not find a route back into the game.
COBRA began brightly and used the conditions to their advantage but were frustrated as Jack Jukes and Hywel Jones both crossed the whitewash only to be denied by the referee.
Instead COBRA had to be content with two penalties from Llew Williams before the hosts replied with No8 Dewi James picking up the ball from the base of a scrum to power over from close range.
Williams kicked his third penalty of the day to restore COBRA’s advantage only for Bro to reply with a penalty of their own before the break from Ian Roberts.
Defending a slender lead and now against the slope the Mid Wales side conceded two early tries to change the fate of the game at the start of the second-half.
Dylan Jones and Matthew Williams both celebrated home tries in quick succession with Roberts adding one conversion to leave COBRA facing an uphill struggle
COBRA dominated much of the remainder of the game but were unable to unlock the home defence to return home empty handed and back in the relegation zone after Ruthin’s bonus point win over Llandudno.
