A POWYS born filmmaker has missed out on a BAFTA nomination after the shortlists for the prestigious awards were revealed.

Chloe Fairweather, from Abermule, gained national attention when she was longlisted for a BAFTA and submitted as a UK entry for the Oscars for her documentary Dying to Divorce.

Her film is a harrowing portrait of the domestic violence in Turkey, documented over the course of five years.

After being submitted as the British entry for Best International Feature Film Oscar, it was also made the longlist for the BAFTA award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.

Unfortunately, Chloe and her film missed out on an official nomination for both awards.

The BAFTA nominees were announced on February 3 in a broadcast presented by Tom Allen and AJ Odudu, leading the nominations were sci-fi epic Dune which is up for eleven awards.

Actress Rebel Wilson is set to host the BAFTA Awards, taking place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 13.
