AN ELECTRIC trishaw travelling the streets of Rhayader will become a common sight after this weekend.

On Friday the town’s community support group, known as the Arches, will welcome the arrival of the kit which will revolutionise how people choose to get about the town.

Conservative MS James Evans will be joined by group trustees and town councillors in welcoming the new addition to Rhayader’s public transport.

Chief officer Pippa Boss said: “It is part of the Cycling Without Age movement, encouraging older residents to get outdoors and ‘feel the wind in their hair, funded by the Lottery Community Fund.”

An official launch event will take place in spring but it is hoped interest in the new trishaw will help recruit more volunteers in the next few months.

The arrival will be on Friday at Rhayader Fire Station.
