OSWESTRY School welcomed one of the England National netball team's coaches to give Oswestry netballers a masterclass.

England's head coach, Tracey Neville, put on the coaching session at the newly constructed Momentum Hall for pupils at Oswestry School and schoolgirls across the country.

Tracey started playing netball at county level when she was 14 and first represented her country in 1993.

She went on to compete for England in the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games.

A knee injury forced her to retire from the game in 2008, but since then she has been dedicated to raising the profile of netball throughout the country.

Tracey was appointed as coach of the national team in 2015.

Netballers from Oswestry School, Lakelands Academy, Whittington Primary, The Priory School, The Meadows, The Corbet, Packwood Haugh, Shrewsbury High School, the Marches and Trefonen spent an hour with Tracey learning key skills and then transferring them to fast-paced games.

She also held an informal question and answer session and signed autographs.

Head of academic PE, Sofie Suckley, said: β€œIt was lovely for the school to have such an amazing role model visit the school.

"Both pupils, visiting pupils and staff really enjoyed the session and we were delighted to host such an inspiration as Tracey Neville.”
