A 31-YEAR-old man has been arrested following a crash in Kinmel Bay which left a cyclist with serious injuries. 

North Wales Police have recovered the white Vauxhall Combo which was invovled in the hit and run at the junction of St Asaph Avenue and Foryd Road, near Asda. 

The van failed to stop at the collision with a cyclist.

Posting on Twitter, a North Wales Police spokesperson said: "A 31 year old local man has been arrested and is helping police with enquiries."

The incident occurred at about 6.40am.

The cyclist was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital. 

Following the crash, the road was closed in both directions. It re-opened a few hours later. 

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said:  “We were called today (October 18) at approximately 6.45am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist on the A548 in Kinmel Bay.

"We responded with one rapid response vehicle, two emergency ambulances, where one person was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital, Rhyl.”
