A SCHOOL's new logo has been unveiled.

The logo, for Christ the Word Catholic School in Rhyl, was revealed during an open evening.

The £23million catholic school, which will replace Ysgol Mair and Blessed Edward Jones Catholic High School, is set to open in autumn 2019.

The logo incorporates a dove, olive branch and a bible highlighting the new school's name.

Gill Greenland, chair of the temporary governing body for Christ the Word, said: “The new logo was launched to parents and pupils at the successful open evening and we were delighted with the response.

“It was great to see pupils who had developed the ideas being able to see their initial drawings taken forward as part of the new logo for Christ the Word.”

The school’s temporary governing body asked pupils at both schools for their ideas around the logo. These were developed by designers working closely with the governors.

Christ the Word will cater for 420 full time pupils aged three to 11 and 500 pupils aged 11 to 16.

It is funded is partnership by Denbighshire County Council and the Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools Programme.
