Police in Newtown have appealed for information following an assault involving "at least five" people.

Police say the incident took place outside the Bear Lanes shopping centre on Broad Street in the early hours of Saturday, September 29.

The assault left one man with a "significant injury", police say.

The full appeal says: "Police in Newtown are appealing for information regarding an assault that took place at approximately 2.30am on Saturday 29th September 2018.

"The incident took place near the entrance to Bear Lanes on Broad Street, Newtown and has involved at least 5 individuals. The assault has resulted in a significant injury to one male. "
