ADAM Price has been elected as the new leader of Plaid Cymru.
The Carmarthen East and Dinefwr AM beat Leanne Wood, who had been the party’s leader since 2012, and Anglesey AM Rhun ap Iorwerth to the role.
In the first round of voting Mr Price received 2,863 votes, Mr Ap Iorwerth 1,613 and Ms Wood 1,286, who was knocked out.
On second preferences, Mr Price gained 618 more votes and Mr ap Iorwerth 348.
In the final totals, Mr Price beat Mr ap Iorwerth by 3,481 votes to 1,961.
In his victory speech Mr Price echoed a Barack Obama campaign slogan with a message of "Yes, Wales can."
"This election shows we are ready to lead again," he said. "Our time has come."
"There will be no second class travellers on our journey to a prosperous, self-confident and independent Wales.
"We must become the hope of those without hope.
"Our message must be simple. Yes, Wales can."
