Quilts are set to be distributed to needy children following a quilting event set to be held in Abermule this weekend.

Abermule Quilters say they are exhibiting quilts and other items at the Abermule Community Centre, Abermule on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September from 10am until 4pm.

There will also be trade stalls, a sales table, tombola and home-made refreshments. Admission £2. Disabled access, free parking.

Some of the quilts on display have been made for Project Linus UK which is a volunteer organisation named after the little boy with the blanket in the ‘Peanuts’ cartoon.

At the end of the exhibition, these quilts will be distributed to needy children through the local Project Linus Coordinator.

Other items which are set to be displayed will include a selection of bags, boxes, cushions, runners and wall hangings.

Dawn McCallion, secretary of the Abermule Quilters said: "It will be a colourful show! Proceeds will be split between Dragonfly Project Worthen, Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre, Macmillan Cancer Support, the Stroke Association and Abermule Community Centre. Do come along."
