A POLICE helicopter scoured an area of the River Dee in the early hours of Saturday following reports of a missing person.

National Police Air Service HQ worked alongside Flint Coastguard Rescue Team, Flint RNLI, Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team and North Wales Police, to search the estuary at around 2.45am.

A Coastguard spokesman said: “Team tasked along with Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team by UK Coastguard to assist North Wales Police with a missing person search in the area of Queensferry/Connah’s Quay.”

“On scene, Flint OIC formulated a plan and a thorough search of both sides of the river banks was carried out by coastguard rescue officers from the Blue Bridge, Queensferry to the Flintshire Bridge, Connah’s Quay.

“Flint RNLI also requested to assist us in the search from the water.”

The search took a total of eight hours. and after six hours, three more coastguard rescue officers from the HM Coastguard Crosby, en-route to Wirral CRE for a planned training session with team members from Flint and Wirral, joined the search.The missing person was later reported safe and well and all units were stood down.

It was not disclosed where the person was found.
