A man broke his ex-girl-friend’s window with a crutch when he made a late night visit to her home.

Stuart Boswell, formerly of Hakin, now of Woodbine Terrace, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Wednesday, September 19.

The court heard that Boswell, 28, had been in an on/off relationship with the woman for a couple of months and called at her Milford Haven home at 11.30pm on August 28 after she broke up with him.

Vaughan Prichard-Jones, prosecuting, said: “She heard a knock on her door. She ignored it as she did not want to see Mr Boswell.”

Boswell then knocked on a side window before he was heard outside the kitchen, where he knocked twice.

“It all went quiet for a moment, then there was a loud smashing noise and she realised that the outer pane of the double-glazed window had been smashed.”

Boswell, who had no previous convictions, left the scene and was arrested about an hour later.

He told officers he was under the influence of alcohol after consuming four or five pints, and his crutch had gone through the window after he knocked on the glass with it.

Boswell, who represented the court, told the bench he had already paid for the window to be repaired.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered Boswell to pay £85 court costs and a £20 surcharge.
