The UK Pro Surf Tour returned to North Wales on the weekend.

Surf Snowdonia, for the third time, welcomed the UK Pro Tour to its site, for the only round that is held inland on any of the European circuits.

Emily Williams and Miles Lee-Hargreaves won the women's and men's competitions respectively, ahead of 34 other participants across the two categories.

Cornwall's Emily Currie came second in the women's category while Patrick Langdon-Dark finished runner up for the men's.

Williams added some local flavour to the podium having spent the past two summers at Surf Snowdonia as an instructor despite heralding from Newport.

The latest round of the pro tour came just days after organisers announced prize money for both male and female competitors would be the same in 2019.

Andy Ainscough, managing director of Surf Snowdonia, said: “The UK Pro Surf and World Surf League’s announcements about equal prize money are something we applaud and endorse one hundred percent.

"Surf Snowdonia is totally committed to equal opportunity regardless of gender – it’s what inspired our Girls on Board initiative and the Women in Sport Conference which we hosted in partnership with the Network She Foundation earlier this year.

“Our surf community is a great example to the world, and we hope sports organisations around the globe will sit up, take notice and take appropriate action of their own.”
