A METROPOLITAN Police officer originally from Neyland is fighting to stay alive for her daughter's sake, after having been given a year to live.

Jade Goffin, 30, who lives in Hounslow, has been told she may not see five-year-old Eva grow up, after being diagnosed with seven tumours on her brain.

Last year Jade was given the all-clear from breast cancer after undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery.

She started back to work with the Met’s emergency response team on recuperative duties, but in June went to A&E complaining of horrendous headaches.

It was discovered she had seven metastatic brain tumours, and was given 12 to 24 months to live.

More than £110,000 has already been raised to help send Jade to America, where specialist treatment could help extend her life.

Her aunt Paula, who lives in Neyland, said Jade was a "strong determined young woman, and an absolute inspiration to us all".

"This is actually happening to her, but she's been the rock for everyone through all of it," she said.

"She’s totally selfless, everyone else's feelings come before hers."

Paula said ongoing scans appeared to show the four smallest tumours had shrunk, and Jade has also just been accepted for treatment at Guy's Hospital.

But to give her a real chance, travelling to America is the only option, and another £140,000 is needed to meet the fundraising target.

"There are things we cannot get in this country, and that’s why we need the money," said Paula.

She said family and friends from London, as well as police colleagues, were going to incredible lengths to raise money.

And she also praised those in Pembrokeshire for their invaluable support.

"She was born here, her husband is from here, her roots are here... and they run deep."
