A pigeon was believed to have been shot with a pellet gun in Wrexham.
RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a member of the public who heard a shot found the severely injured pigeon in her garden on School Lane, Coedpoeth.
The pigeon was left in a 'very bad condition' with one of its wings completely broken and hanging off.
To prevent further suffering, the RSPCA put the pigeon to sleep.
RSPCA inspector Rachael Davies said: "It is concerning that a pigeon was shot in a residential area.
“Such unnecessary and callous attacks can cause a lot of pain and distress to birds."
Anyone with information should contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018."
