STORM Ali is battering the North Wales coast.

There have been reports of traffic restrictions and ferry cancellations, as well as power cuts and the closure of protected buildings across the area.

The Met Office have issued a warning for Wednesday, September 19 between 6am and 10pm.

Ali has brought a spell of very windy weather with gusts of 50-60 mph possible inland.

Restrictions for bikes, motorcycles and caravans have been placed on Britannia Bridge over the Menai Straits.

Traffic Wales has tweeted: "Restrictions in place on A55 Britania Bridge.

“Winds are expected to get stronger and there may be a chance of increased restrictions.”

Meanwhile in Anglesey, all swift fast craft ferry sailings have been cancelled on Irish Ferries between Holyhead and Dublin.

A power cut has also occurred in Bethesda, with power expected to return this afternoon.

Elsewhere, historic buildings Conwy Castle and Denbigh Castle have been closed to prevent hazards.

Cadw, the historic environment service that oversees the castles, said: "Some of our sites are closed due to high winds.

"Please phone our sites ahead of your visit to check their opening times."

The Met Office has also issued a yellow warning for rain between 4am and 10pm on Thursday, September 19.
