PROPOSALS for more than 20 new homes have been given the go-ahead.

A planning application for 24 homes and associated works in Wood Lane, Hawarden, was received by Flintshire Council.

The plan explained the site includes land that would be safeguarded for the future development of a community centre and gifted to the Hawarden Community Council by the applicant, should planning permission be granted for the proposed housing.

The council has now confirmed the scheme has been given the go ahead by planning officers.

A design and access statement explains: “The proposed development includes a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes, in three different house types and designs.

“None of the proposed dwellings would result in any unacceptable reduction in the living conditions of neighbouring occupiers by reason of overlooking, overshadowing or overbearing impact.

“Parking and highway design requirements are met. Moreover, it is not considered that the additional traffic that is likely to be generated.”

Regarding the community centre, it would be the subject of a separate planning application.
