A WOMAN has said she feels victimised after her car was set on fire for the second time in less than a year.

Geraldine Evans, 61, bought the Ye Olde Talbot Inn, Cymau, about one year ago with plans to convert it into her perfect home, but she has since been subject to intimidation.

Her car was set on fire in the early hours of Saturday morning and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said one crew from Wrexham attended the scene.

Geraldine Evans said this is the second time her vehicle has been subject to an arson attack in less than a year

She said: “It’s nasty, the only person it affects is me. It’s so expensive but it’s also the vulnerability.

“I’ve worked really hard in my lifetime to retire back to North Wales to be near my family and see the little ones grow up and have a nice home. This would make a beautiful house, what we thought would be our last home.

“I wanted to make this into a family home and have family here during the holidays and it’s ended like this.

“I don’t class it as a pub, I class it as my home. It was on sale for two years because it wasn’t making any money, and very few people were using it.”

Geraldine’s plans to turn the pub into her dream home have been refused and she said she has had comments aimed at her on social media.

She said she was at home with her partner Chris Daniel and two grandchildren aged 12 weeks and four years before Chris heard a loud bang.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze caused 60 per cent fire damage to the car and nobody was injured.

Geraldine added: “I do feel it is personal because there were three cars in the carpark and they didn’t target the Mercedes or the Volkswagen, they targeted my Range Rover which has a personalised number plate as my name.

“I had two babies there and that’s what’s most frightening. Within minutes it was exploding, the tyres explode, and the air bags go off, it’s like a bomb going off.

“It’s terrifying, I don’t feel safe and I won’t be minding the kids here again I won’t risk it. For me, coming here was like returning home. It’s such a shame, it didn’t make it as a pub and will now probably end up boarded up and rotting.

“It wasn’t supported as a pub so why would we keep it as a pub?”

Geraldine’s car was set on fire back in October 2017 and said she did not think anything of it until the comments aimed at her and the second car fire over the weekend.

The 61-year-old has said she wants to put the property back up for sale and is offering a £1,000 reward for information leading up to the conviction of those responsible.

An appeal has been launched by North Wales Police and anyone with information can call 101 referencing 18300095298 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
