WELSH television channel S4C have secured a 10-year extension on the lease for their Caernarfon office.

A spokesperson for the company praised the move, saying that it showed their "commitment to north Wales."

The deal follows on from an initial lease which was signed in 2007 and will see the channel cement its position as a permanent fixture in the town - having had a presence their since the 1980's.

"At a time of great change at S4C, as we move our HQ to Carmarthen, it's important that we show commitment to the whole of Wales," Said S4C chief executive Owen Evans.

"In addition to future locations in Carmarthen and Central Square Cardiff, I’m glad that we have been able to guarantee our presence in north Wales for a further ten years.

"We have 12 permanent staff members working from the office, and many other staff use it on a regular basis to meet with local independent producers. We have a long historical association with Caernarfon and this deal reinforces that for the future."

On behalf of the landlord, WJ Developments (Gwynedd) Limited, Siôr Hayward, property director added: "Without doubt our Victoria Dock development has played a major part in the regeneration of Caernarfon and we are delighted that S4C have committed to their future to the area.

"The development has recently seen positive growth with the inclusion of several new tenants demonstrating it to be one of the prime office locations in North West Wales."
