TWO new theatre groups are being launched in Prestatyn.

Prestatyn Youth Theatre will be divided into sections for ages four to seven; eight to 10; 11 to 14; and 14 to 18.

There will also be a Prestatyn Community Players group for adults, aged 18-plus.

An enrolment day for Prestatyn Youth Theatre will be held at Ty Caradoc Community Centre on Saturday, September 15 from 9am until 11.30am. Workshops start at Ty Caradoc on September 22.

The adult group will meet at family centre in Gronant on Mondays from 7.30pm-9.30pm. The group offers theatre training, drama improvisation and acting skills.

The theatre groups are being launched by Stuart Tong, a former Glyndwr University theatre, television and performance student, who said: “I really want to give it its own identity.

"It will be made up of highly-qualified teachers and there will be opportunities to do production, exams and more.

“Everyone is welcome. People don’t have to have previous experience as training will be offered.”

The theatre group will be run by teachers who are degree-level educated in drama or performing arts and have years of combined experience and performance.

Stuart, 54, is originally from Rhyl but now lives in Prestatyn and is planning on becoming a drama therapist.

He said: “Drama is fantastic for good mental health. The children will gain fantastic experiences and memories and will be encourage to succeed.

"They will make new friends in a youth theatre that has a strong connection to its town.”
