A 30TH birthday event for a health support and information service proved a success, despite one or two early setbacks.

Organisers of the Disability Resource Centre, based at Glan Clwyd hospital, had planned an afternoon of music featuring three folk acts to mark the occasion.

However, band The Tydners and country singer Emma Moore missed the party, due to heavy traffic.

Annette Lees, promotions and outreach for the centre, said: "This didn’t stop us continuing the party and having an afternoon of fun and laughter.

"It was a wonderful day enjoyed by many. The weather was on our side with glorious sunshine all day and we had a great turn out with brilliant entertainment from Colwyn Bay’s ukulele band who had everybody singing and clapping along with lots of classic hits for all ages.

"The ice cream van also proved a huge success with customers and friends enjoying a 99 in the sun.

"We would like to thank everyone who came and everyone involved with the birthday party and here’s to the next 30 years of business."
