A COUPLE celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary were "lost for words" upon receiving congratulations from The Queen.

Arthur and Joan Frost, keen walkers and cinephiles from Prestatyn, celebrated 60 years of marriage on August 23.

Each year, thousands of birthday and wedding anniversary cards are sent on behalf of The Queen to people celebrating significant birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

Arthur said: "We were very pleased to get a card from Buckingham Palace. Joan was lost for words.

"We had some very nice gifts from our walking groups including one with more 20 walkers names and good wishes. Just amazing and very unexpected.

"We will keep them all and treasure them for the rest of our lives."

The couple - who had five children and have 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grand children - celebrated the day with a meal with two of their daughters Sandra and Barbara, who travelled from Kent, as well as some of the children of their late daughter Julie from the Wirral.

Arthur added: "Due to working commitments, some of family could not attend on the day. We spent a restful day enjoying our cards and gifts."
