POLICe have reported the Britannia Bridge is now open again after it was closed following a serious collision.
A man was cut free from a car after it was involved in a collision with a lorry in the early hours.
The A55 between LlanfairPG in Anglesey and Bangor was closed heading eastbound after the incident causing traffic delays.
Police reported earlier this morning (Friday) that the road was currently being cleaned of spillages.
A spokesperson for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service had sent two crews, one from Menai Bridge and one from Bangor when the collision happened at 1.52am this morning.
They had used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a man from a car, after the incident on a slip road leading to the bridge. He was later taken to hospital.
North Wales Police Tweeted just before 10am that the eastbound carriageway at the bridge was completely closed.
Long traffic delays had been reported and road diversions via the Menai suspension bridge were in place for several hours.
In a Tweet, at about 11.16am, police, reported:
"The BritanniaBridge has now re-opened, however please be mindful that there will still be congestion in the area due to the backlog of traffic. We'd like to thank you all for your patience."
