THE ANNUAL Welsh golf championships returned again this year and saw ladies across the region compete for the title.

Mold Golf Club hosted the Girls Inter-County Championship, which saw the practise round being held on August 19 and the Championships held on August 20.

The event organised by the Denbighshire and Flintshire Ladies County Golf Association, saw six counties enter a team of up to five junior girls, from Caernarfonshire and Anglesey, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, Denbighshire and Flintshire, Glamorgan, Mid Wales and Monmouthshire.

The winners of this year were Glamorgan with 124 points and runners up, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire with 118 points with the best individual score going to Izabelle Morris from Glamorgan, with 52 points.

Denbighshire and Flintshire took fourth place behind Monmouthshire with Caernarfonshire and Anglesey taking fifth place and Mid Wales sixth.

The Winning County trophy and Denbighshire and Flintshire trophies were presented by Kim Ellis and Simon Lou from Golf Wales, the runner’s up trophies by Janis Langdon, County Captain for Denbighshire and Flintshire and the Individual Winner trophy by Gaynor Jones MBE.

Marie Moore, Denbighshire and Flintshire Junior Girls Manager, thanked everyone who had helped make the championship so successful.
