POLICE are appealing for information after a break-in at Neyland Athletic Club.

The front door of the club has been broken, and entry gained.

A jukebox has also been smashed, with shards of glass covering the floor.

Rodney Chamberlain said he locked up at 7.15pm last night (Tuesday) and was confronted with the damage when he arrived this morning at around 8am.

"They've kicked the door panel, and broken into the cellar," he said.

"I'm not sure what they've taken yet.

"It looks like they tried to get into various other bits but failed."

"It's just a mess," he said.

"It's hard enough to operate without senseless vandalism," a spokesman wrote on the club's Facebook page.

Scene of Crime officers have visited the club to assess the damage, and now club staff can begin the clean-up.

County Councillor Paul Miller, who has been leading the development of the club site, said the incident was "dreadful" and condemned those who would seek to damage such an important local resource.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
