A NEW date has been set for a Future Fit event in Bishops Castle.

The question and answer session will now take place next Monday at Bishops Castle Town Hall between 6 and 8pm.

It was postponed at short notice last week.

A Future Fit spokesperson said: “The panel at this public meeting will include NHS staff and hospital clinicians who will be able to tell you about the proposed service changes and answer your questions.”

The Future Fit programme is looking to create a single emergency department for the county at either the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

The other site would provide planned care, while both hospitals would have urgent care centres which will have extended minor injuries unit facilities.

Dr Simon Freeman, accountable officer for Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is expected to attend the event after he was unable to make the previous date.

It comes after residents and councillors previously vented frustrations after Dr Freeman was unable to attend a Local Joint Committee meeting in Bishops Castle in July.

The meeting next Monday will take place in the Market Hall room of the Town Hall.

A consultation on the proposals ends on September 11.
